Alleyne Elvir Bendeck joins the TWR IT and data management team in Cary, North Carolina as a summer intern.

Meet Alleyne Elvir Bendeck! She joined the TWR IT and data management team in Cary, North Carolina, as a summer intern. A native of Honduras, this junior IT and data networking student attends Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Her enthusiasm for her work is contagious, and she clearly desires to use her skills for the glory of God. She shares:

“I am … creating new and efficient databases, creating queries to obtain and manipulate data, creating reports in Power BI, and analyzing data from different platforms like Salesforce and Microsoft SQL Server.”

Through a virtual career fair at Liberty University, Alleyne started a conversation with Jennifer Bozeman, U.S. coordinator of college recruiting. Now that she serves with TWR, Alleyne loves the opportunity to improve her IT skills, all while listening to amazing stories and experiences from TWR staff. To top it all off, she says she is “having a ton of fun with the other interns.”

Alleyne appreciates the welcoming and friendly demeanor of the TWR staff. “I feel so loved by the TWR staff, and I enjoy getting meals with them.” Being around staff members who have such strong faith inspires her to grow closer to the Lord.

The TWR IT team has been grateful to have Alleyne on the team this summer. Her manager, Chris Overman, director of data management, says:

“Alleyne’s enthusiasm for her work in TWR’s data department has been evident from the first week of her internship. Her insight and assistance with various data projects this summer has been invaluable.”

TWR marks the third time Alleyne has served in missions.

Alleyne's family helped drop her off and get settled into her new summer home before summer intern orientation.Through Liberty, Alleyne served in short-term missions in Türkiye and Greece. Her internship at TWR is her first experience serving the Lord in a large global ministry. She is passionate about discipleship and continues to invest in a group of girls from her hometown via Zoom.

This summer, she misses her home, her family and Honduran foods. Her favorite food is the pupusa, a Honduran food that is a thick corn tortilla cake. She says, “They are so delicious! I hope to try food from different countries because I love trying new things and being outside my comfort zone.”

Alleyne loves the outdoors. This summer, she has already hiked with fellow interns and TWR staff members at the local Umstead Park and Lake Crabtree. While she’s here, she hopes to make it to the beach, one of her favorite places to be.

First Fruits Farm was founded by former University of North Carolina Tar Heel and National Football League lineman, Jason Brown. Their mission is “to share the love of Christ and aid in hunger relief in eastern North Carolina.”

Alleyne is a ballerina certified with the Royal Academy of Dance in London, England. For six years before college, she enjoyed being a professional ballerina. Performing in the academy as a main character in their Snow Queen performance was a highlight for her.

In her downtime, Alleyne enjoys learning about cybersecurity and is studying Hack the Box, an online platform that creates and connects cyber-ready humans and organizations through highly engaging, game-like hacking experiences. While in North Carolina, she has enjoyed being consistent with working out with routines she has created.

Alleyne is guided by her favorite Bible verse and the impact it has had on her life:

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
(Colossians 3:23)
