Purpose of this role: This role is responsible for accurate and compliant financial information for the US and Latin America; managing cash flow; supervising staff; ensuring compliance with internal controls as well as federal, state, and local law; oversight of fixed asset, accounts payable, accounts receivable processes; annual budgeting processes; internal and external audit support; bequests, annuities, trusts and endowment accounting and reporting; advising ministry leaders and actively participating on relevant teams.

Duties / Responsibilities: 

Essential functions:

  • Oversee payables, receivables, and journal entries
  • Review monthly financial information for accuracy, compliance and timely reporting
  • Monitor budgets and project balances
  • Complete reports required for government compliance
  • Prepare for and participate in scheduled meetings with regional and global staff
  • Mentor, train, and evaluate regional finance staff annually
  • Maintain an effective internal control environment
  • Submit external reporting accurately by publishing deadlines and posting copies on SharePoint
  • Approve purchases, disposals and write-offs of fixed assets
  • Coordinate with regional personnel and national partners on finance policies and financial matters
  • Submit requested annual audit data by scheduled deadlines
  • Review bank and investment account reconciliations per scheduled deadlines
  • Oversee the preparation and posting of quarterly account analysis on SharePoint

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday with hours occasionally outside this time frame
  • Must be able to spend long hours working on the computer; hazards of which may include eye strain and fatigues, back pain, hand and wrist strain and fatigue
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally

Qualifications and Core Competencies required:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or MBA preferred
  • Must be proficient in the latest technology and software (i.e. Microsoft Office applications, accounting software) 
  • Must be knowledgeable in management reporting
  • Must be knowledgeable in internal controls and accounting standards
  • Must have diplomacy, especially in cross-cultural settings
  • Must have team-building and motivating skills
  • Must have good analytical skills
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have good servant-leadership skills
  • Must agree with TWR’s doctrinal and positional statements
  • Must have impeccable integrity
  • Experience with not-for-profits and fund-accounting a plus
  • Must speak, read, write and comprehend English
