Many of China’s rural believers lack pastors who are trained in Bible knowledge and teaching. But for over 20 years, TWR has been distributing radio kits in China that each contain a Bible, study materials, and a radio with instructions on how to listen to TWR’s programs.
Today, an estimated 710 million urban people have access to the internet, where they might find biblical materials, but only a quarter of China’s rural population has access to the internet. To stay relevant to a more rural audience and take advantage of new technology, TWR is enhancing the traditional kits with a revamped digital package that includes seven discipleship textbooks, a Chinese Bible, and program schedules – all stored in a Titus II digital receiver. The Titus II is a radio fused with a basic tablet computer.
Rural believers to whom the digital units are distributed will be able to read and study the materials stored on the tablet and to listen to companion digital shortwave broadcasts from TWR’s station on Guam. Along with radio programs, the digital shortwave transmissions can deliver additional content to be stored and accessed on the tablet. As more rural areas get connected to the internet, the Titus II units will give believers access to other spiritually nourishing TWR resources.
Our goal is to raise $200,000 to supply updated Radio Church Kits ($150 each) to believers and seekers in China.
