I will never forget walking through a particular slum in the Dominican Republic and being exposed to extreme poverty for the first time.  I will never forget the exact spot in the Samburu district of Kenya where I experienced the holiness of God like never before or since.  I will never forget the exact spot in Oaxaca, Mexico where I saw the Lord perform a miracle by multiplying a bag of shoes for a group of preschool kids.  These were special moments in my life.  These events were milestones in my Christian faith.  And, they all happened on short-term mission trips.  Jacquelyn Core, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost of Waynesburg University, has taken college students on weeklong mission trips to TWR-Bonaire in the Caribbean.  She says "the students really grew in their faith."  I'm not surprised at all.  I don't know why, but God often draws us to an unfamiliar place to show us more of Himself.
