The West African nation of Côte d’Ivoire is in a desperate situation that we can’t fully understand, so we are trusting the Lord as we come alongside our TWR family, friends and staff there in the midst of uncertainty and unrest.
There is no easy solution to the stalemate, short of a miracle of God’s grace. Please pray for a peaceful resolution to the political impasse, and also for the salvation of every man, woman and child as that resolution is worked out. The death toll has reached 400, and over 450,000 people have already been displaced. In Liberia, 77,000 have registered as refugees already, and many are stuck suffering with nowhere to go.
As the situation deteriorates, TWR continues to broadcast radio programs that bring hope through Jesus Christ to the afflicted. While our medium-wave West African Transmitting Station broadcasts to the whole country of Côte d’Ivoire, our programs are also heard over an FM station in Abidjan.
Some of these programs include: Women of Hope (a Project Hannah production in French), The Way of Righteousness (evangelism in Songhai and Tamasheq), Witness at the Water II (evangelizing children in French), Thru the Bible (systematic Bible teaching in French and Bambara), The Word Today (weekly devotional in French and Baoule), AIDS Challenge (in French), Africa Challenge (development and social welfare issues in French) and many more.
It’s no small feat for our TWR staff in Abidjan to produce these programs amidst escalating unrest, lack of access to sufficient finances and transportation difficulties. Please keep them in your prayers, asking God to strengthen their spirits and give them his peace which surpasses all understanding.
