A broadcast partnership aimed at raising $25,000 to help cover Cuba with the gospel crossed the goal line and kept on sprinting.

The final total exceeded $40,000 as Bott Radio Network teamed with TWR (also known as Trans World Radio) in July to promote the latter’s massive project to more than quadruple the power of its transmitter on the Caribbean island of Bonaire. Upgrading the AM transmitter from 100,000 watts to 450,000 watts would enable TWR’s Bible-based programming to reach all of Cuba and an expanded portion of Latin America with a stronger, more consistent signal.

“We are proud of our BRN listeners who stepped forward to exceed TWR’s goal of $25,000 by donating in excess of $40,000 toward this strategic project,” Rich Bott, president and CEO of BRN, said after the campaign. “Hats off to TWR and others who share our vision to spread God’s Word.”

The Bott boost to TWR’s $3.8 million fundraising drive comes at an opportune moment. On Aug. 13, 2014, the Bonaire operation will turn 50 years old.

“It’s a beautiful circle.  The Lord uses radio as one of his tools to teach his Word, and then he allows listeners to reciprocate and provide that same experience to others.  Bott Radio listeners are passionate and exuberant about providing solid discipleship through great Christian radio to our neighbors living in Cuba, who need it so desperately. “

Founded by Dick Bott in 1962, the Kansas-based network comprises 95 stations in 15 states. It broadcasts high-quality Christian talk radio to a potential audience of 51 million listeners and can be heard around the world on mobile apps and on

Along with the 50th anniversary of Bonaire outreach, TWR is celebrating its 60th anniversary of broadcasting in 2014. Now on the Internet as well as the airwaves, the media ministry broadcasts a wide variety of Christian programs over 20 major transmitters and 2,000 local AM and FM outlets  to reach people in 160 countries and more than 230 languages.
