Birthdays are Fun1
We had a great time this weekend celebrating Beth's birthday as well as little Liam who turned 1 recently. It was nice to meet some of our Son's in-law family for a day at the park.
The Chicks followed God’s call to TWR in 1980, starting their overseas service in 1983 on the island of Guam. In 1997, they moved to Austria. Robert worked in IT and as a consultant to the Technical Department. Elizabeth worked as the Third Culture Kids Resource and Event Coordinator.
Working in different countries allowed Robert to use his theological training for preaching and teaching as well as his broadcast engineering training. Elizabeth served as a mission hostess, in the shortwave mail department and now with the Third Culture Kids of TWR Europe.
In the fall of 2011 the Chicks relocated to the TWR office in Cary, North Carolina to continue their ministry reaching the world with the Gospel through media.
Bob is part of the Global IT/IS team helping keep our worldwide network a secure, up to date, and effective tool for bringing the Gospel of Salvation to the world.
Bob had endoscopic surgery on April 26th for abdominal pain. The finding was cancer. Pray as Bob recovers from the surgery and as he and Beth wait to hear from the oncologist on the next steps.
Bob had recent laproscopic surgery to see how the Chemo was treating the cancer. The doctor was very encouraged by the results. Therefore Bob is scheduled for the CRS-HIPEC surgery on October 15th. It is a major surgery involving removing cancer from numerous organs and possibly removing a few along the way. He'll be in the hospital at least a week and then several weeks/months of recovery. Please pray for good results from the surgery (1 in 4 chance of effectiveness). Pray for recovery time and that Bob will be able to work from home during recovery after leaving the hospital. It all depends on his state of mind during those weeks. God is faithful and caring for us along the way. We are at peach in Him throughout all this, good news or bad.
I don't get in her too often. But, 14 chemo rounds and 1 abdominal surgery later Bob is moving forward. 10 More rounds of chemo for this set and we'll see what happens next. Things are going well otherwise. Pray for strength and minimal side effects from both the surgery and the current chemo treatment.
