Sterling first arrived on Guam at age 21 on a short-term assignment with Trans World Radio (TWR) on recommendation of his pastor. In 2004, Sterling quit his job in Nebraska and spent several additional months on Guam and then returned as a long-term missionary in 2005. He met and married his wife, Gwen, there in 2007. They have a 4-year-old little girl named Maria Magdalene Ottun.
In the beginning to mid-January 2015, the Ottuns moved to Cary, NC for Sterling to take on the new role in TWR as an Events Coordinator. He coordinates strategic events with partners and donors. These events will enable our partners to spend face-to-face time with TWR's president, Lauren Libby, and other TWR leadership. The events will be centered on giving a deeper understanding of TWR's global ministry of reaching all peoples for Christ.
As you all are aware, a ministry like TWR takes money to operate. But not many ministries in the world have day in day out, year in year out ministry to places like North Korea, Vietnam, Pakistan, Syria, and other places like TWR does.
And believers want to know what we are doing in these areas, as well as other things TWR is doing and want to partner with us to see God call people out of sin into a new life in Christ! Sterling's job coordinates events to help Lauren and TWR share this information.
The Ottuns are grateful to be serving with TWR where the life-giving message of Jesus can be heard by such a vast number of people. They are excited about the future and how God uses TWR to draw people to Himself.
