TWR Expands Global Broadcast Outreach

TWR Surpasses 225 Languages-and-Dialect Mark with New Programs to Africa

CARY, NC, March 12, 2008—Listeners in West Africa are the beneficiaries of expanded ministry experienced by international Christian broadcasting network Trans World Radio (TWR), which has added new programs to help reach people with the good news of Jesus Christ in their own heart language.

Recent broadcast supplements to the airwaves include Baatonum, Ditammari and Lukpa, all languages spoken in Benin, West Africa; and Ifè, which is a language of Togo. With these and other new additions, TWR now proclaims God’s Word globally in more than 225 languages and dialects.

“Expanding the number of languages and dialects TWR airs broadens our opportunity to reach even more people with the gospel message,” says TWR Chairman of the Board and Interim CEO Thomas J. Lowell. “By adding broadcasts into an unreached area like West Africa, we can also deliver the good news to those who might not otherwise have access to the hope and salvation of Jesus Christ.”

Programs are broadcast from more than 2,000 outlets, including 14 international transmitting sites, as well as local AM, shortwave, long wave, FM, direct-to-listener satellite broadcasts, cable audio systems and the Internet.

Broadcasting biblically based programming since 1954, TWR reached the 200-language milestone in November 2005. Since then, the network has added a new 100,000-watt AM station in Benin, West Africa, among other local affiliates around the world.
