Project Hannah, which takes its name from the biblical woman, Hannah (1 Sam. 1:1-28), was founded in 1997 by Awareness Advocate Marli Spieker. Marli and her husband, Edmund, were Trans World Radio missionaries in Asia when God impressed upon her the many women who are trapped in spiritual, cultural, and physical bondage.

Prayer to the Rescue!

In the following note to Project Hannah, Lynda B. from Australia described how God demonstrated to her the power of prayer. The letter received is as follows:

"My prayer calendar for May onwards got lost until last Thursday. I found it, looked at the first prayer point about prostitutes in South East Asia and wondered how on earth to pray for their rescue. It's such a huge prayer point and no specific ideas came to mind, but I prayed anyway. That night on the news there was an item about 20 prostitute slaves (Burmese I think) were found and rescued by police in Thailand. Shots were shown of the girls in a dark room and about four men were led away handcuffed. What a great God! And gracious enough to let me in on His victories!"

Because you prayed:

· Women of Hope in Creole began airing October 6 from Bonaire to Haiti as well as over two local stations on the island.

· A partnership is developing between Trans World Radio-Australia/New Zealand and a national women's ministry group regarding Project Hannah's outreach to Australian women.

· Radio programs are now being produced in Ukrainian. Praise the Lord for producer Irina, who is translating and contextualizing Women of Hope for women in Ukraine.

· Opportunities for Portuguese broadcasts in both Africa and Brazil are being explored in earnest.
