Project Hannah, which takes its
name from the biblical woman, Hannah (1 Sam. 1:1-28),
was founded in 1997 by Awareness Advocate Marli Spieker.
Marli and her husband, Edmund, were Trans World Radio
missionaries in Asia when God impressed upon her the many
women who are trapped in spiritual, cultural, and physical
bondage.

| Prayer:
The Heart of the Matter
The numbers often seem overwhelming, the plight incomprehensible.
It's heartbreaking to imagine the conditions that some women
must endure in their daily lives. Consider that of the 1.2
billion people living in poverty worldwide, 70 percent are
women. Or that women now account for nearly 50 percent of
all HIV/AIDS cases. And two thirds of the world's 876 million
illiterates are women.
These statistics are not just cold hard facts–the number
of hopeless women they represent is chilling. When you read
about them in the newspaper or listen to the news reports,
what runs through your mind? Do you think, "I wish I
knew of something I could do. But I'm so far away! And I couldn't
do anything significant anyway, right?"
But your participation is crucial in the spiritual rescue
of these women. As women and men of faith, you are called
to intercede on behalf of those who suffer.
Project Hannah is a ministry grounded in prayer, and was officially
launched after 40 days of prayer and fasting. Throughout its
four years, prayer continues to be a vital part, and no radio
program initiatives begin without prayerful consideration
first.
"Through prayer, the ministry of Project Hannah was conceived
in early November of 1997, with the radio broadcasts starting
a year later," says Marli Spieker, executive director
of Project Hannah. "Since prayer is the backbone of this
ministry of compassion and encouragement, this outreach can
only be sustained by people lifting it up to God."
The PH leadership gathers together daily to uplift requests
to the Lord. Thousands in over 80 countries have joined the
Global Prayer Movement and faithfully pray for the outreach
and the women to whom PH ministers in 30 languages and over
more than 105 radio stations. Won't you join them?
