| Project Hannah, which takes its
name from the biblical woman, Hannah (1 Sam. 1:1-28),
was founded in 1997 by Awareness Advocate Marli Spieker.
Marli and her husband, Edmund, were Trans World Radio
missionaries in Asia when God impressed upon her the many
women who are trapped in spiritual, cultural, and physical
bondage. |

July 2002 - You Have Given Me Hope
In Portuguese, my mother tongue, a saying goes like this: "Hope
is the last one to die." You see, nothing is totally lost
if the only thing we are left with is a tiny ray of hope. Hope
fuels our dreams. Hope believes in tomorrow. Hope heals wounds
and mends broken hearts. Hope makes ordinary people do the extraordinary.
Hope is that magical ingredient in life which causes us to see
the invisible, feel the intangible, and attain the impossible.
The Bible says that "hope is the anchor of our souls."
The "Hannahs" to whom Project Hannah (PH) ministers
worldwide experience this reality daily. As I read their letters
and listen to their life stories, I see them as frail vessels
in a turbulent sea of indignity, abuse, hurt, and suffering.
We could call their predicament hopeless. But to do that is
to defy God's powerful love and negate His Word, His faithfulness,
and His promises.
Sowing time... The seeds of hope we are planting in our listeners'
hearts have nothing to do with human feelings or with changing
social, political, or economic structures. Hope transcends human
effort and strategy. Hope is found in a Person–"Christ
in you - the HOPE of glory" (Col. 1:27b). Jesus is the
reason for PH's harvest of hope. Each message, prayer, financial
gift, and new friend who joins this crusade of compassion is
a seed of life-sustaining hope which we are sowing in abundance
to women everywhere. Today, hope is the "anchor of their
souls."
Harvest time... By God's amazing grace, the response to Women
of Hope programs on every continent has been overwhelming!
God has also used PH to initiate Trans World Radio's ministry
in countries such as Cambodia, Thailand, and others.
The Lord has given us a harvest of countless compassionate intercessors
who, by stepping out of their comfort zones, have joined PH's
prayer movement from many cultures, races, and languages. They
are rescuing women and girls from Satan's claws. In return,
they are reaping a harvest of hope in their own souls, their
families, their friends, and churches.
God is listening! Women are being delivered from despair. Even
men from different countries are coming to Christ and changing
their destructive behavior. Children are being cherished as
precious gifts from God! Churches are being strengthened with
stronger families full of hope.
My heart is humbled to see what God has done as a result of
an unassuming step of obedience to His call. Will you step out
in obedience to the King's call also? To love these unloved
women? To pray? To give? You will experience the unspeakable
joy of knowing that tonight, countless women around the world
will go to bed freed by the Lover of their souls, saying King
David's words: Thank you Father! "You have given me hope"
(Ps. 119:49).
