Project Hannah, which takes its name from the biblical woman, Hannah (1 Sam. 1:1-28), was founded in 1997 by Awareness Advocate Marli Spieker. Marli and her husband, Edmund, were Trans World Radio missionaries in Asia when God impressed upon her the many women who are trapped in spiritual, cultural, and physical bondage.

The Work of God's Hand

My cup overflows with blessings when I see what God is doing in the regions I have the privilege of helping coordinate in prayer. To share a significant evidence of His hand as a result of our faithful Project Hannah prayer partners is difficult to limit to one, as my heart is torn into nine pieces, one for each country or language Project Hannah (PH) is developing in Northeast and Southeast Asia. Let me share a few:

In Australia, there is a greater awareness and involvement in PH now, as well as a new partnership developing which has the potential to reach Australian women in a tremendously exciting new way.

Not only are Indonesian women who listen to our Women of Hope broadcasts expressing their feelings with an openness uncommon to the natural culture there, but also several women in the conflict areas (where many churches have been burned) express that their faith and trust in God is strengthened as they listen to our programs during such difficult situations.

To hear the statement that "two families have openly said they are listening to our programs" doesn't seem very significant–until you realize this comes from a dangerous area of the Southern Philippines! Praise God! Continue to pray that they soon will learn to trust in our Lord Jesus.

"To a woman like me whose life is a misery, you are like a true friend!" These words are from a believer in Myanmar who suffers in pain from an abusive, alcoholic husband. "Your message . . . is the source of hope that sustains me and keeps me from falling apart."

Many fervent prayers for the women of China and their need to hear a program in their native language have been wonderfully answered as we soon celebrate the first full year of broadcasting Women of Hope in Mandarin. The possibility of expanding our program beyond China to Mandarin-speaking women in other countries is now a reality also! Praise God!

Joy has been praying for more volunteers to help her with the production of Women of Hope programs in the Korean language. Today, as I write, Joy said, "I got a call from a lady who wants to help me! Praise God!"

Truly the faithful prayers of a righteous man (and woman) avails much!

Rejoicing in His service, Flora Rittenhouse
