For each new PH initiative and every new language in which Women of Hope airs, prayer groups must be established to specifically pray for the initiative before it begins (though groups might not be in the area of the project). A listener in Vietnam recently wrote that he used the prayer calendar to start a prayer group of 12 people in his church.

Building on a Solid Foundation

by Marli Spieker, founder/awareness advocate

“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow,” wrote the Apostle Paul, and he added, “for we are God’s fellow workers.” Here is God’s design for teamwork: working WITH Him–what a considerable responsibility! Reading this issue, I hope you sense HIS methods at work in Project Hannah (PH).

The Person and redemptive work of our Lord Jesus is the foundation
(1 Cor 3:6-11) of PH, and unity in ministry is key to fulfilling the God-given task of building on that foundation. PH is a harmonious team consumed with passion for Him and compassion for women in need.

My journey as God’s “fellow worker” began as a teenager working in the slums of my home country of Brazil. Later, early in my marriage, God called my husband and me to establish TWR-Brazil. I never dreamed the women’s program I produced in those early years would become a blueprint for PH’s Women of Hope, now airing in 27 languages!

Decades later, PH producers, intercessors and awareness advocates are watering that seed by sharing Christ’s hope worldwide! Many comfort women forgotten in prisons and AIDS wards. Intercessors in over 80 countries pray constantly for these needy women to have softened hearts to receive the message and for PH’s global team to remain steadfast. It’s rewarding and humbling to see God work through this team of many colors, cultures and languages.

While God chooses people to be His fellow workers, His work is not done by human effort. He alone enables and provides for each task. And since PH is not a Christian “enterprise” but rather His idea and dream, the “friendship factor” in team relationships is essential. We must guard unity for “there the Lord commands His blessing” (Psalm 133). As the “Master Architect,” He does not merely supervise building; He alone has the right to assign responsibilities.

In that vein, God has sent workers gifted in managing day-to-day operations to build upon PH’s foundation. So, I will now walk alongside this team, continuing to cast the vision and raise awareness at home and abroad. And with TWR making women’s ministries a global priority, PH’s expertise and network provides a base for expanding the overall vision to reach women.

I still dream of storytelling programs for the millions of women who cannot read and PH also seeks to read the Bible to women via radio. Praying for biblical justice remains a high priority. But we must keep in mind that God alone causes growth. We “plant” and “water” as God assigns a task, and He is faithful to “reward each one according to his labor.” Dear Friend, being His “fellow worker” is priceless.

Marli Spieker (pictured left) is Project Hannah’s founder and awareness advocate. Following God’s leading to join her husband more closely in a new ministry opportunity, Marli and TWR modified her former executive director role. Her new part-time position relieves her of operational duties but allows her to continue engaging in PH’s ongoing outreach.
