PRAYING FOR WOMEN AFFECTED BY ABORTION

Please pray for…

  1. Mothers to choose life for their unborn children instead of abortion. Of the 190 million pregnancies around the world each year, 50 million end in abortion (UNFPA).
  2. Women who have had abortions to come to know God’s restoration and redemption through His Son, Jesus Christ, who alone brings wholeness out of brokenness, who renews us in His image, who reconciles us to Him and who gives us His peace.
  3. The power of the gospel to touch the hearts and lives of mothers who are deceived by false religions and ideologies so that they will recognize their calling to nurture and protect their daughters as well as their sons.
  4. Women who are considering having an abortion to know the truth about what is truly in their best interest. Not only does abortion kill babies, but some women who have had abortions develop a wide range of mental disorders and have a higher death rate from suicide, accidents and homicides. Many maternal deaths associated with abortions are not identifiable from death certificates and therefore are under-reported.
  5. Wisdom for Project Hannah (PH) staff to provide effective follow-up to Women of Hope (WoH) listeners who have difficult and pressing needs.
  6. Praise the Lord that WoH Russian is now on the air. Praise the Lord that Haitian women living in the Boston area of the U.S. are now able to listen to PH’s WoH Creole program on Radio Echo Evangelique.
  7. Physical and spiritual protection for Christians in closed countries who are determined to continue serving where God has placed them, despite the extremely hazardous conditions. Some of our producers daily face the danger of losing their families, possessions and even lives for the sake of the gospel.
  8. Better healthcare for the thousands of women who are in danger of dying during pregnancy, childbirth or soon after giving birth. Pray that women would become better aware of how to care for themselves and their unborn babies and that governments would fight the corruption that prevents better medical care.
  9. Unborn children whose mothers are considering abortion. “My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Psalm 139:15-16).
  10. Our God to bring glory to Himself through the WoH broadcasts by the proclamation of His Word, which offers forgiveness and healing to women living with profound guilt and remorse after choosing to abort their own unborn children.
  11. Women who are pregnant as a result of rape to find physical and emotional healing in Christ Jesus’ love and compassion through the care and support of His followers. Pray for PH counselors as they minister to women who have had traumatic experiences. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).
  12. Those who courageously and publicly defend the rights of unborn children. On September 26, 2009, in Berlin, Germany, a Walk for Life took place with 1,300 Pro-Life people participating. Pray that more people will join such events.
  13. Praise the Lord for the 40 Days for Life campaign (September 23 to November 1). The initiative took place in 212 cities across 45 American states, five Canadian provinces and Denmark (http://www.40daysforlife.com/splash.cfm).
  14. The Lord our God, who is able to change hearts and direct the course of nations, to turn the tide and empower national leaders to act on behalf of the preservation of marriages and families.
  15. Mothers who are in danger of birth-related injuries like fistulas that leave them in pain and incontinent causing many to be abandoned by their husbands or confined to their homes because they cannot afford the needed surgery to repair the damage.
  16. Our Heavenly Father to teach us to “seek justice, encourage the oppressed, defend the cause of the fatherless, and plead the case of the widow” (Isaiah 1:17).
  17. Women who have terminated an unplanned pregnancy and are grappling with feelings of guilt, anger, shame and feel far from God’s love. Pray that they will seek His forgiveness and healing.
  18. Those attending The First International Congress on Women's Health and Unsafe Abortion conference in Bangkok, Thailand, January 20-23, to allow truth to prevail and acknowledge that women are harmed by abortions and efforts must be made to save the life of the unborn and preserve the lives of the mothers.
  19. God’s Spirit to move in power to protect the 50 million unborn children worldwide who could be aborted this year. “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute” (Proverbs 31:8).
  20. The hundreds of thousands participating in the March for Life (http://www.marchforlife.org/) on January 22 in Washington D.C. and other Walk for Life events (http://www.walkforlifewc.com/) in many large cities in the U.S. as they speak up for unborn children, for “those who cannot speak for themselves”.
  21. Praise the Lord for leaders in the Dominican Republic who have included pro-life language on abortion in a constitution bill saying the right to life is from conception until death (LifeNews.com).
  22. That governments would train doctors and midwives on how to prevent fistulas, also providing well-equipped health centers throughout their country so women can reach the clinic before the baby arrives. In Ethiopia, 94 percent of women give birth without the help of a properly trained health worker, and many of their women have small-framed bodies (BBCNews.com).
  23. Existing laws against the evil practices of selective female abortion, infanticide and planned starvation of girl babies worldwide to be enforced. Currently, 61 percent of the world’s people live in countries where abortion is permitted with few restrictions (http://reproductiverights.org/sites/crr.civicactions.net/files/documents/pub_fac_abortionlaws2009_WEB.pdf).
  24. Our hearts and minds to be enlightened about the issues affecting women worldwide, so that we can continue to faithfully and wisely intercede on their behalf according to the will of God.
  25. Our God to touch the hearts of mothers around the world with His compassionate and merciful love, so they would learn to value, protect, educate and care for their children, whatever their circumstances.
  26. The safety of pregnant women who are in danger of domestic violence, many times leading to death. Pray that family, friends and neighbors will speak up when they suspect abuse and that they will protect those who want help.
  27. Women and teenagers who are considering suicide after they have had an abortion to find a friend who will show them God’s love and care. Many women and teenagers were forced to get their abortion and now they are dealing with the emotional pain that is many times unbearable.
  28. Those who have been affected by the tragedy of abortion or infanticide to experience the mercy, forgiveness and comfort of God through the love, compassion and kindness demonstrated by His people.
  29. Wisdom and encouragement for PH’s workers who not only translate the WoH programs and prayer calendars, but also hold health seminars, teach women’s leadership training, distribute donated radios, lead prayer groups and Bible studies, pray for listeners and answer their letters. “Give her any help she may need from you, for she has been a great help to many people” (Romans 16:2).
  30. The provision of better health care to reduce the 515,000 annual deaths from preventable childbirth-related causes. The United Nations reports that 47 percent of developing-country births are not attended by skilled persons.
  31. Give thanks for God’s moving in the hearts of many who are exposing the evils of abortion, domestic violence, sex trafficking, rape, poverty and other abuses women and girls face.
