Making Connections in North Africa

Here's an inspiring online conversation with a TWR listener and program producer in Algeria.

TWR Producer: …Besides the radio broadcasts, do you watch television programs about Christianity?

Listener: Of course. I watched televised evangelism programs twice with a friend in his home. It is very well done, but I have found that the televised broadcasts cannot replace the radio programs.

TWR Producer: Why is that?

Listener KA: The reason is clear, my dear friend: the television programs are not accessible to all, especially in this world. I take my own example. I watched with a friend because he and his family are Christians. They look all together the Christian programs on television.

But, I am the only woman who believes in Christ in my family. This is why it is impossible for me to look at such programs in the house with the members of my family who are [of another religion]. With programs emitted by the radio, I could listen to these programs in my room without fearing anybody. You see the difference? They are many in this same situation.

TWR Producer: Thank you for this information. We ask God to prolong the life to these radio broadcasts. We spoke to someone else in your situation, too. Basically, anyone can isolate himself all alone with his radio receiver to listen without anyone that comes to embarrass him!

Listener:You should know these things, my brother! That the thousands of Kabyles [of another religion] that have converted to Christ are not converted by television programs, but by radio programs... You should rejoice, because your work is not vain. Pray for us because we are engaged in a fierce combat.

TWR Producer: I promise it! Only persevere in the path of Christ without fear! Go in peace!
