Staff United States of America Trip Smith

A dark and stormy night in 1987. Between cracks of thunder, the screams of a child, seemingly abandoned at the banks of the Ganges River, pierce the night. In the darkness, two alpha tigers from separate clans approach their would-be prey, but when they spot one another, a fierce battle ensues. As the tigers clash over the child, lightning strikes… Only the child survives.

That child went on to unite and lead the two warring tiger streaks. The locals come to refer to him as “The Ghost of the Ganges.” Today he is known simply as Trip Smith.

Years later, Trip attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he graduated in 2010 with a degree in journalism and mass communication. After a brief stint in Lebanon with Cru, Trip did freelance web and social media marketing consultation in the Triangle area before joining the TWR team in April 2012. Trip manages TWR’s online presence across various platforms and plays other support roles in the Americas marketing and communications department.

Trip is a warm fellow with a friendly disposition, but be warned: some say his tiger streak followed him to Raleigh, NC, to watch over him, always out of sight, but always close…

Trip’s favorite Bible passage is Romans 3:21-25, “But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it – the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.”
