Staff United States of America John and Ann Polloni

Home

From the time the John and Ann were married in 1958, they were committed to missionary service. At that time, John was a senior at Northeastern Bible College while Ann had graduated from nursing school and was an established nurse in Obstetrics.

The Pollonis learned about TWR through their local church that supported TWR missionaries, Bill and Joan Mial.  Bill came to speak on a Wednesday night and shared about a recent emergency at TWR’s station on the Caribbean island of Bonaire. One of the diesel engines that supplied power for the transmitter site malfunctioned and was destroyed. John, having served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict, had training in diesel engines and knew exactly what went wrong. By the time Bill left, John and Ann had a TWR preliminary application in their hands!

In February of 1971, the Pollonis were accepted as TWR appointees. By June 4, 1973 they departed for Bonaire where they served until August, 1978 when they relocated to TWR’s U.S. base of operations. John served in purchasing and shipping while Ann worked in Public Relations and then later in the Donor Services department. Caring for appointees, furloughing missionaries and staff from overseas as they passed through the U.S. office was an added bonus to their lives and much enjoyed.

John and Ann retired in June of 2000 to Plymouth, MA for a time before moving to Sun Lakes, AZ near their daughter Jeanne and family. The Pollonis continue to promote missions, especially TWR, and serve seniors in their local church.

John and Ann’s favorite Bible verse is, “Faithful is He who calleth you who also will do it.” –1 Thessalonians 5:24
