Global Staff Benin
The challenges in West Africa go far beyond those of reaching hard-to-access areas or surviving the harsh conditions of village life. Communicating the gospel with those who have never learned to read or write in their own language, never heard words such as “grace” or “salvation” and never had access to the outside world makes evangelism difficult—except by radio.
TWR’s 100,000-watt AM transmitter in Benin is capable of reaching an audience of 190 million people in West Africa. This unprecedented outreach to West Africa poses many opportunities as well as challenges.
Among the many opportunities is the ability to reach oral societies, some for the first time. Our Benin transmitting station joins our two other major transmitting locations, one in Swaziland and one in South Africa, to reach the African continent with the hope of the gospel.
