"I'm sorry, it's a girl..."
The midwife's sigh of resignation reveals that the new baby is a disappointment. This is not a happy birthday.

In her world, where women are of little value, this baby's future holds pain and hopelessness. She will not go to school nor learn to read. If she survives early childhood she may be forced into marriage before age 12. And by the time she is a young adult, she is likely to contract HIV, perhaps by rape or through her husband’s multiple sexual partners. If she survives assault from those around her, she may well choose to end her hopelessness by her own hand.

Does God hear this baby girl, crying out from a culture that traps her God-given destiny behind walls of oppression, bigotry, and abuse?

He does. He heard that cry before from another woman 3,000 years ago. Unable to bear children, she was labeled worthless by her culture. In her desperation, she turned to the only Source of hope. And God answered her cries with miraculous power. Her name was Hannah.

Women of Hope
Today, many more “Hannahs” cry out in despair. And God is answering that cry through Project Hannah's groundbreaking radio broadcast called Women of Hope. Through this weekly 30-minute program, God’s message of peace penetrates the spiritual and cultural walls that separate women in other parts of the world from freedom and forgiveness in Christ.

Women of Hope can be heard in more than 40 languages, including: Albanian, Burmese, Cebuano, Creole, English, Finnish, Guarani, Hindi, Ilocano, Indonesian, Javanese, Kazakh, Khmer, Korean, Kyrgyz, Lengua, Low German, Mandarin, Oriya, Nivacle, Papiamento, Portuguese African, Portuguese Brazil, Quichua, Sgaw Karen, Spanish, Tagalog, Tajik, Tamil, Thai, Turkmen, Ukrainian, Uzbek and Vietnamese.

The program's format is magazine-style, mixed with music and features. Each half-hour includes interviews, testimonies, discussions, and devotionals. Broadcasts are broken into two segments: "Lessons for Your Life," which advises women about health and family matters, and "Lessons for Your Soul," which offers them scriptural teaching.
