Ministry Projects : Equipping Media Centers in Latin America

Through radio and other media, TWR shines the light of the gospel across the Americas, leading many to faith in Christ and growing them in the truth of God’s Word. The superpower 100,000-watt transmitter on the Caribbean island of Bonaire reaches the “linchpin” countries of Cuba, Venezuela and beyond. The reach is expanded with more than 500 local radio stations across North, Central and South America. And key production centers in Venezuela and Uruguay create the biblically sound, relevant programming which is transforming lives across Latin America. But none of this is possible without well-equipped, well-maintained media centers. And, in order to ensure that this life-changing ministry continues, four crucial media center needs must be met in 2012. Constructing a dyke is necessary to protect Bonaire’s high-powered transmitter, threatened by rains and flooding. Recent real estate development in the area has greatly increased water runoff. During the 2010 rainy season, water came within four vertical inches of entering the transmitter room. Experts have been consulted, and a large dyke is the most cost-effective way to protect the transmitter and its critical broadcast ministry to the 64 million potential listeners in Cuba, Venezuela and beyond. Replacing and upgrading a high-capacity CD duplicator is vital to TWR’s supplying its programming to hundreds of stations across Latin America. Many local stations across Latin America have loyal listeners but lack the resources to create their own programming or to receive TWR’s programs via digital means. Bundling programs on CDs and distributing them via postal and other means has been highly efficient and cost effective. The number of radio stations airing programs continues to increase, so in addition to replacing aging equipment, TWR must ensure high capacity duplication in order for more people to hear the gospel. A majority of the high-quality programs aired from Bonaire and distributed to local radio stations are created in TWR's Venezuela and Uruguay production centers. Much-needed studio equipment will enable these production centers to continue producing these relevant programs that present God's truth in the heart languages of the people of Latin America, affecting lasting change. Though Latin American culture is permeated with religious tradition, its people are often devoid of a real relationship with Christ and societal problems cross country borders: drug addiction and trafficking, poverty, homeless children, violence, suicide and more. All Latin Americans need a relationship with Jesus Christ and the knowledge of how to live gospel-centered lives through His grace. TWR meets this need, speaking hope to families through radio programs filled with God’s truth and specifically tailored for Latin American listeners.
Your donation of $75 will help us to build a solid foundation of speaking hope to Latin America by equipping TWR's critical media centers.
