Ministry Projects : Orality Programs for Central Asia
"Oral communication" is a term that represents one of the major thrusts in missions today. Reaching oral societies with the gospel is vital. Oral communicators can either be either illiterate or literate. The approximate 61.2 million people of the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are classified as oral communicators even though many of them are able to read and write. This is because of their wonderfully colorful traditions based upon stories, poetry, and music. Gathered around a radio, in the privacy of their homes, Central Asian believers can absorb the oral biblical teaching they so desperately need in order to grow in their faith as well as find opportunities to discuss Jesus with non-believing friends and family who visit.
We welcome you to learn more about the programs for oral communicators in Central Asia. Two examples of the orality radio programs for Central Asia are:
Stories from the Holy Scriptures: Do you remember listening to Bible stories being told or read to you as a child? In oral societies, storytelling is a vital part of the culture in Central Asia. That is why this program series provides such a wonderful way to share the Gospel with the people of Central Asia. It is designed to help the Tajik-speaking people of Central Asia understand the teachings of Christ through the telling of biblical stories from the Holy Scriptures.
Truth and Blessings: The Bible tells us about some of the people that Jesus met during His ministry on this earth. This program series for the Uyghur people of Central Asia and China is based upon the Gospel of Mark and is centered around these encounters. It shares about how the people changed through meeting Christ. This is also an orality program. The Gospel of Mark is read through twice during this series so that the Uyghur people can hear the pure gospel in a form they are accustomed to.
Please prayerfully consider what part God would have you play in the sponsorship of these valuable programs. Your gift of $68 will enable thousands to hear the gospel of salvation in a culturally acceptable manner and equip Christians to reach out to their own people.
