Ministry Projects : Camps for Chinese Youth
Chinese young people are often lonely and lost. They need companionship and guidance as they encounter challenges at home, at school and with friends. While there are Christian families in China, Christian youth can find themselves adrift without a solid personal relationship with Christ or the foundation they need to share Jesus with others. There's a great interest in holding summer and winter camps for Chinese youth, but resources are limited and the local churches lack experience in arranging these events.
TWR Asia’s "Flying" camp project brings the love of God to Chinese young people face-to-face, interacting with them and building lasting friendships. Held during summer and winter, these camps help young Christians strengthen their faith and grow in their relationships with God, empowering them to be bold witnesses for Christ. TWR's China team will place counselors with the youth throughout their time at the camps, to build relationships with them and to lead by personal example. Training is provided to these counselors to equip them for this role, and to be faithful servants of God.
Through a series of message sharing and teamwork activities, the youth not only develop Christian character and find self-value in God, but most important, they experience God and make or renew their commitment to Him. The youth are also introduced to TWR's Chinese programs, available over radio and the Internet, so that they can continue to be nourished by His Word -- long after the camp has ended.
In 2009, a total of eight youth camps were held in July and August. The total number of participants was 575 between the ages of 12 and 25 years, with the average age being between 15-18 years old.
We invite you to support this project so that young Chinese believers will be strengthened and renewed in their relationship with God. A gift of $50 or more would make a lasting difference.
