Ministry Projects : Stories of the Potter - Program for Cambodian Oral Communities

From 1975-1979, Cambodia was held in terror by the Khmer Rouge regime, and an estimated 2 million people lost their lives.* Christians, religious leaders and intellectuals were slaughtered by the thousands, leaving the nation in shambles for decades to come. More than half the population in Cambodia now is under the age of 21, deeply impacted by poverty, lack of education and the loss of family members. Cambodia has the highest rate of child abandonment in Southeast Asia.*

Christians have only been allowed to worship openly in Cambodia for less than 20 years, and missionary work can be slow amongst those who live entrenched in superstition, animism and traditional religion. Those who minister among Cambodians must do so relationally, building friendships over time that open the door to presenting the gospel.

Education is sometimes hard to come by in Cambodia, and many prefer to learn through oral means such as storytelling and songs. For this reason, TWR is producing Stories of the Potter, a radio program for Cambodian oral communities, telling the stories of Jesus and the Bible through the spoken word, in techniques that understand the Cambodian worldview. Through a combination of radio broadcasts, personal visits and follow-up work, TWR-Cambodia is gently leading Cambodian souls to the healing love of Jesus Christ.

Your generous donation of $100 will make a great difference in the lives of hurting Cambodians.
