Ministry Projects : Church Leadership Development Seminars for Listeners in Orissa, India
The Indian state of Orissa has been the site of numerous disasters over the years, both natural and manmade. Floods and famine have pressed down on these people, nearly half of which already live in poverty. Riots and attacks by extremists have destroyed churches and displaced thousands of Christians. The area has been referred to as a tinderbox of religious tensions [1] and seems set to explode at any time.
"Pray for us," a local church leader pleaded. "Our pastors are discouraged and want to quit. Our people are suffering. Where do we go? What do we do?"
In the midst of daily pressure, Orissa's Christian leaders need encouragement and care. To help them, TWR's partner plans to hold clergy development seminars, to encourage leaders to keep their eyes on Jesus and be strong in times of trial, remembering that history is witness to the fact that the blood of the martyrs is the seed of His church.
