Ministry Projects : China's Orality Project for the Mosuo people

Mosuo women

Approximately 52,000 Mosuo live in the villages around the border between China's Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. Though they are officially categorized as part of the Naxi minority, Mosuo have their own distinct culture and they speak their unique language, which has no written script. Most Mosuo live under the teachings and influence of Tibetan Buddhism, and many worship spirits as well. Without an oral Bible in the Mosuo language, the gospel can only reach a fraction of the Mosuo population who can understand the official Mandarin language.

To help reach this oral community, TWR is loading recorded audio versions of Bible stories onto portable audio players. Distributed to Mosuo church leaders, these Bible stories will assist leaders in memorizing the Bible so they can teach their congregations through the spoken word and tell non-believers the life-changing stories of the Bible.

Your gift of $75 will help reach the Mosuo with God's Word in an oral context.
