Ministry Projects : Russian Health Programs: In-dependence

Could there be anything more wonderful than independence from alcohol and drugs, and dependency upon God’s love, mercy and grace? Unfortunately, too many young Russian boys and girls are enslaved to addictions. About 120,000 Russian citizens die of drug and alcohol abuse each year. Drugs and alcohol already begin to spoil young lives by 11–14 years of age. The number of schoolchildren using drugs or alcohol has grown from 13% to 56% over the last 10 years. Too late they realize that they cannot function without doping, and cannot by their own will or strength come out of their situation. And so suffering begins not only for them, but for their parents, spouses and children. (Source: http://www.cdi.org/russia/johnson/2007-235-31.cfm)

In cooperation with the First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, TWR has started a new program called In-dependence, produced by people who have become independent of addictions themselves. The author of the program talks about a real way out of these troubles, shares testimonies of people in similar situations, and gives the addresses of local rehabilitation centers. Please help us as we show Christ to suffering Russian men, women and children, giving them the strength they need to break the chains of addiction. Your gift of $75 will provide lasting hope and help.
