Ministry Projects : Bamboo Shoot - Radio Program for Vietnamese Children

Most children in Vietnam do not have the opportunity to hear about Jesus because they are growing up in a non-Christian environment. In Vietnam's growing economy, children are increasingly exploited. The divorce rate is also increasing, breaking up homes and creating deep pain in the hearts of Vietnam's young people.

Even children in Christian families, like those in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, do not receive adequate biblical education due to a shortage of teachers. Four thousand radios have been distributed in this region, and children are listening to TWR's regular broadcasts, but no children's programming has been aired—until now.

To reach Vietnam's children, TWR has created Bamboo Shoot, a program aired over shortwave designed especially to reach into homes in the remote Central Highlands. Children in this area socialize closely with each other, opening a great opportunity for word of Bamboo Shoot to spread from child to child.

A gift of $54 would pay for the production of one episode of Bamboo Shoot. A gift of any amount would make a tremendous difference in Vietnamese children's lives.
