Ministry Projects Purpose: Evangelism and Discipleship TWR-Nepal and Awana International Partner to Impact Children
Churches in Nepal are concerned about the lack of biblically based guidance, care and teaching for their nation's children. This is an urgent need, as many children of Nepal’s next generation face challenges such as illiteracy, poor health conditions, sexual abuse, drug abuse, human trafficking and child labor.
TWR and Awana International have been ministering to children for a long time. Now they are joining hands to expand their reach to more children in Nepal for Christ.
TWR broadcasts a children’s program on nine FM stations in Nepal using music, Bible dramas and stories to share the Gospel. These have made a huge impact on children and the church in Nepal. TWR links children who respond to the program to local churches where they can be discipled and cared for in physical and spiritual ways.
Awana International in Nepal was established in 1996. Today, there are approximately 750 children’s clubs throughout the country that meet weekly for games, fellowship and hearing the gospel.
Recognizing the extensive network of Awana children’s clubs throughout Nepal, TWR and Awana International desire to implement a new, joint venture that will include a media outreach and a field outreach.
The media outreach will:
-broadcast this children’s programming on an additional seven FM stations, phased in over three years, beginning with one 15-minute program, aired twice weekly in the Nepali language.
-add the Newari language on two stations in the second year.
-add the Bhojpuri language on two stations in the third year.
-produce and distribute 2,000 CDs of the program, 2,000 music CDs and 15,000 copies of literature in each year of the project.
The field outreach will:
-continue to follow up listeners by responding to their letters, phone calls and text messages.
-form children’s listener clubs and rallies where TWR staff can visit them personally.
-distribute literature and Bibles to children.
-provide scholarships to children infected with HIV/AIDS or affected by the disease.
-feed children of the streets and slums through local churches.
-continue to train Sunday school teachers.
The three-year project is projected to cost a total of $123,685, money that will be strategic in raising up a future generation of believers, even leaders, in Nepal.
Your gift of $100 or more will help us reach out to the Nepali children with the Word of God and make a lasting difference in their lives.
