Ministry Projects : Messages of Hope programs for Serbia

Although Serbia is predominantly a Christian country and filled with people who would call themselves Christians, little is being done to help people meet the Lord Jesus. They are not being taught about the hope and peace found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which they desperately need.

TWR’s Partner in Serbia, IKONOS, has developed several programs under the umbrella of Messages of Hope (MOH), each of which is tailored to a specific audience to meet this need and bring the message of hope to Serbia. The programs are aired Tuesday through Sunday, with each program having a different focus.

MOH Sunday includes topics such as Basic Christianity for non-believers and for those who know little about the Christian faith. The basics of Christian teaching are explained in a way that is simple and easy to understand.

MOH Tuesday covers topics from different areas of Christian life, such as prayer, fasting and the importance of Bible reading.

MOH Wednesday and Thursday (a.k.a. MOH with Pastor Phil) provides deeper biblical teaching for those who read the Bible and come from the Orthodox tradition. So far, the series has included programs on Jesus’ mother, The Lord’s Prayer and the Gospel of Matthew.

MOH Friday has a more pastoral focus. It is intended for new Christians who are just starting the Christian life. The program is currently covering the book of Acts, looking at the life of the early Christians and how we can incorporate the lessons into our lives.

MOH Saturday includes two MOH programs aired on Saturday. The first is known as Saturday Mornings with the Bible. This is a program for new Christians making their first steps in the Christian faith, as well as for non-believers with Christian backgrounds. The program gives listeners biblical messages in a sermon style from which listeners can learn more deeply about the teachings of Christianity. The second is known as Messages of Reconciliation. The program speaks about topics in a way that is familiar to those who come from the Orthodox Church and bridges the gap between nominal Orthodox believers and Bible teaching.

NEW! MOH for Women shows women that Christianity is not just a religion but a way of living, and the Bible and Christianity give answers to many of today's daily issues. This is the message that IKONOS would like to get across to the country's 3.7 million women, for whom at present there are no Christian radio programs.
