Ministry Partnership Team Area Director

This position will be responsible for the following territory: Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. Applicant will need to reside within the territory, preferably in Texas.

Scope:

Develop, cultivate and maintain relationships with assigned and potential new donors (individuals, churches, foundations) for the purpose of securing the financial needs of TWR while honoring the agenda of the donor. To inform believers of how they can personally participate with God and His redemptive work through the global ministries of Trans World Radio so that all people may know and worship Him. Develop, cultivate and maintain relationships with cooperating broadcasters for the purpose of increasing the number of programs available for broadcast worldwide.

Objective:

To engage major donors, broadcasters, foundations and churches in the U.S. in vital ongoing relationships that result in the release of greater resources for TWR’s mass media ministry so that lasting fruit is produced.

Accountabilities and Reports:

Reports to U.S. Director of Ministry Partnerships

Responsibilities:

Fundraising

  • Each year, set an individual financial goal with the assistance of the U.S. Director of Ministry Partnerships for the total dollar amount to raise in the U.S.
  • Work diligently to steadily improve individual ROI (return on investment/productivity) through an increase in resources (donations) raised through assigned relationship caseload and new donors, coupled with the wise use of ministry budgets (controlling expenses)
  • Submit reports which include:
    a) donor relationship activity (number of personal visits, phone calls, e-mails, letters)
    b) tracking of Global Strategic Plan (GSP) presentations
    c) specific or customized project presentations
    d) specific information on financial challenge amounts solicited; for example, double their giving or challenge for a lead gift
    e) referrals and referral follow up
    f) planned giving activity
    g) other pertinent information
  • Increase proficiency in setting up, conducting and following up appointments.
  • Assess and document specific donor giving capabilities to include growth possibilities.
  • Understand, communicate and match the needs of TWR to assigned donors and new donors.
  • Work with planned giving prospects through the completion of planned giving agreements.
  • Understand and adhere to TWR's fundraising philosophy and guidelines.

Donor Relationships

  • Create a spirit of partnership between assigned individual donors, foundations, churches and broadcasters and TWR’s ministry.
  • Articulate and present with passion to assigned relationships (individuals, churches, foundations, broadcasters and new potential donors) TWR’s global ministry initiatives (Global Strategic Plan) and associated projects resulting in a challenge to participate.
  • Be timely in response to donors
  • Look for regular opportunities to involve assigned donors in president’s forums, vision trips, volunteer work, etc.
  • Remain current on ministry accomplishments, needs and events in order to speak knowledgeably about Trans World Radio to assigned relationships.
  • Pray for your assigned relationships throughout the year.
  • Contact assigned donors to acknowledge and thank them for gifts within one week of notification.
  • Assist current and potential broadcasters with the development of future programming.

Acquisition of New Major Donors

  • Effectively ask current assigned donors for referrals.
  • Understand how to identify, qualify and pursue potential major donors.
  • Invite qualified potential major donors to events and ministry vision trips.
  • Effectively use TWR’s president and other leaders on donor visits, as appropriate.

Administration

  • Allocate and use suitable space for your office.
  • Use a personal, workable filing system.
  • Develop a working proficiency of computer hardware, application software, e-mail and computer utilities.
  • Be able to navigate and effectively utlize the Internet, Teamsites (Sharepoint) and other information resources.
  • Enter contacts on a weekly basis into Raiser’s Edge.
  • Record and submit expenses on a semimonthly basis on approved forms.
  • Adhere to ministry and office budgets.

Creativity

  • Articulate creative ideas either verbally or in writing.
  • Openly listen to new ideas.
  • Participate in brainstorming activities at Area Director meetings.
  • Take ownership of your ideas and provide follow-up to the group.
  • Solicit new and creative ideas from donors.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Self starter; ability to work with limited supervision
  • Organizational/time management/administrative skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One to two years of experience in major donor gift solicitation
  • Demonstrate a mature, passionate spirituality and growing relationship with the Lord characterized by: a growing knowledge of and commitment to the Word of God; ablility to teach and draw applications for understanding its principles and power for every area of life; a fervent prayer life; a servant's heart; a heart for the lost and conducting oneself in the day-to-day affairs of life with integrity and character.

  • Display a fervent heart and vision for world missions.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to properly present the ministry and funding needs/opportunities in an individual and group setting.
