Trans World Radio continues to proclaim God’s Word across the continents, and its Project Samuel programming is bringing the wonder of Jesus to children in Africa.
The second series of Witness at the Water, part of TWR-Africa’s Project Samuel umbrella project that airs radio programming specifically for children, began airing in Malawi in the Chichewa language during the first week of October. The program is broadcast on the Malawi FM network that covers more than three-quarters of the country. The same series in Portuguese also began airing this month on the Maputo FM transmitter in Mozambique.
Witness at the Water features a number of burning topics facing children in Malawi and Mozambique, and the programs have been tailored to each country’s unique situation. Some of topics include:
- sexual abuse
- waiting on and hearing from God
- death and suicide
- God has it under control
- trafficking of children
- sickness and healing
- what Christian boys and girls can do in the world
- ife-purpose and involvement in nation building
- hat being a follower of Jesus Christ is really about
- Jesus Christ, the Friend of all children
Witness at the Water in the French language is scheduled to start airing in West Africa in January 2008. An executive producer has been screening personnel for the recordings and script writers for adapting the material.
TWR has already received numerous letters from the previous series of broadcasts in Mozambique. A mother wrote: “After listening, I am calling to tell you that I like your program. I know that you produce them for children and youth, but I listen every day that I can. I also invite my children to listen to your program to learn something about what God wants for our lives.”
And Filomena in Mozambique said: “In that radio drama, Sofia suffers very much. It represents many children’s lives in our city, in our country. I learn on your program to care for those children who do not have anybody to care for them. I wish that many mothers and fathers would listen to this program and practice what is good.”

- Please continue to pray for these programs as they go out over the airwaves, and for many children to have the opportunity to listen and accept the Christ.
- Ask God to prepare the hearts of French-speaking children in West Africa, that they will be open to His message as Witness at the Water is broadcast from the new TWR transmitter in Benin.
