Sitting in the police car, filled with guilt, the 55-year-old Albanian woman heard TWR’s Women of Hope program. The radio hosts spoke about God’s love and forgiveness, and she felt the words were just for her. “Would you forgive me for what I have done?” she asked God.
This woman had killed her son-in-law, who had been constantly violating her daughter. But after hearing this broadcast, she prayed for salvation. While incarcerated, she was discipled by the Albanian Fellowship of Prison Ministry, and was later released after an amnesty for women over 55 was given by Albania’s president.
Project Hannah (PH) is TWR’s ministry specifically for women, and this month celebrates its 10th anniversary. Countless millions of women around the world face unimaginable horrors from wars that never seem to end; natural disasters that steal their families and homes; diseases that ravage their bodies; and poverty and illiteracy that leave them struggling to merely survive. And worse, many are trapped in the silence of their pain, with no one to speak on their behalf.
“There are wonderful things happening in Albania with Project Hannah,” said Enkelejda, Project Hannah’s (PH) coordinator in the country, which was under the dictates of atheistic communism for years. “There is a growing interest in PH. I would very much appreciate it if you will uplift in prayer the Albanian ministry. I strongly believe we are entering into a new season and need direction from the Lord.”
Project Hannah’s passion is to encourage, educate and empower women to seek God and to instill His lasting hope in their hearts. Since 1997, God has used Project Hannah to offer compassion and hope to hurting women worldwide through prayer, awareness and radio programming in more than 40 languages across the globe. God is working mightily through PH to share His transforming love with precious but previously unengaged souls. In Albania, the 30-minute Women of Hope (WoH) is broadcast weekly via FM, and a 10-minute prayer program airs daily.
“I listen to Christian radio all day long, and it is a great blessing to me. As a mother of three, a wife and a church leader, I’m very much encouraged by your WoH programs,” an Albanian woman named Sonila wrote. “I learn new things all the time and encourage women in my church to listen. I lead the intercession ministry in my church. The on-air prayer calendar has helped me a lot, not only to intercede for issues I never knew existed, but to teach the women of my group the importance of interceding in prayer for our sisters around the world.”
Prayer Points:
- Pray for Enkelejda, PH’s Albanian coordinator, as she oversees PH’s Albanian ministry.
- Pray that many Albanian women will tune in to the broadcasts and come to know Christ.
- Pray for Project Hannah’s global team as they prepare programs in more than 40 languages, lead prayer groups and personally minister to women and families in need.
