Frequent blackouts used to result in tremendous loss of production for TWR staff in the Dominican Republic. But now a generator and new studio equipment help sustain the ministry.
The new generator was funded by generous TWR friends who responded to last year's Project Shine initiative.
TWR-Dominican Republic Director Georgina Thompson is especially grateful for the new generator that has been installed and runs automatically every time the city’s power goes out. Blackouts are sometimes five hours or longer almost every day, and the interruptions used to cause loss of data, recordings and appointments, she says, not to mention the problems no air conditioning causes. “With this generator, we can now move ahead with the confidence that we can count on the power supply required to keep producing the programs that are reaching thousands in the Americas,” Thompson adds.
While the generator has made a great difference in the staff’s work environment, the office upgrade has had an equally astounding effect. TWR’s Regional Technical Coordinator Joe Barker, who serves at the Mission’s Cary, NC, office, traveled to the Dominican Republic to help install the studio equipment. Items included a CD duplicator, new computers, new microphones and a control board, among other things. “It was a real blessing to install all of this equipment and remove so many of the problems that were slowing the ministry,” Barker says. “I extend my special thanks to those who have invested in this valuable Kingdom work.”
