For more than 50 years, God has touched thousands of lives around the world through TWR’s broadcasts. Insight for Living, the teaching ministry of Chuck Swindoll, is one of those programs He is using to change lives.
In Indonesia, Insight for Living (IFL) is broadcast from three local FM stations; two broadcast the program daily, while the other airs the program twice a week. Since 2000, more than 8,400 listener letters have been received from Indonesians in response to IFL programming. Those tuning in have been taught solid biblical truths that have transformed their hearts.
One of those is Mr. S. “I was a gambler, an alcoholic and a troublemaker in the community,” he says. “My life brought sadness to my wife, my children and my parents.” Though he wasn’t interested in listening to TWR’s Christian programs at first, one day Mr. S. tuned in. “God’s words spoke to me very strongly through the programs I listened to,” he says. He wrote TWR to ask how he could change his life, and received many letters in return that offered him godly guidance.
“Now I am really a new person,” Mr. S. continues, adding that he daily prays and reads the Bible and devotionals that TWR sent him. Adds Mr. S: “Above all, I now have become a witness for Christ.” He says he shares God’s Word with his church prayer group every week, talks about Jesus with his father, who is not yet a believer, and even brings his radio to work so that his friends can also hear Christian programming. “I am happy if they ask me about Jesus so I can tell them more about Him,” says Mr. S. “Thank you for your programs that changed my life, and thank you for your care that makes me always remember Jesus’ love.”
Mrs. M., a mother of three adult children, is another Indonesian listener who has been encouraged by IFL programming aired by TWR. She lives with one of her sons and his family, yet still, as she says, “I feel lonely because my son and his family are very busy with their work and leave me alone.” Mrs. M. cannot go to church or other places outside the home because of some health issues. On one occasion, she felt such despair over her situation that she asked God to bring her home to Himself.
Then one day, her son bought her a radio to help her pass the time. She tuned in a local Christian station that aired the Javanese Insight For Living program. The message touched and comforted her heart, reminding her that although she could not go anywhere, she could pray for her children, her grandchildren and her church.
