Healing Hearts in Africa

“The cry of a soul is the deepest and most touching cry. Only Christ can save a soul,” wrote TWR founder Dr. Paul Freed in his book, Let the Earth Hear. And through TWR’s Project Hannah ministry, Jesus is healing such heart cries of women worldwide.

Although it is one of the youngest arms of Project Hannah (PH), the vibrant African outreach is making an eternal difference in the lives across the continent. Prayer groups are currently located throughout Angola, Mozambique, Ivory Coast and Liberia; the largest, in Angola, has 600 members! Putting prayerful compassion into action, the women in these PH cell groups care for prisoners, orphans and hospital patients. Others teach handcraft projects and English to children in their villages.

“We were affected by the Ebola virus which was devastating the city; I lost my husband and two children,” said one woman. “God’s grace and care sustained me and I survived. Although I was sick, some PH team members were not afraid to take me into their homes and hide me, for some nurses and doctors were killing sick people to prevent the disease from spreading.”

The Women of Hope (WoH) radio program, which is presently aired in Portuguese in Angola, will soon be implemented in the Ivory Coast. Requests for Project Hannah’s ministry are also coming in from Kenya, Malawi and Zimbabwe. Women of Hope in African French will be one of the programs aired from the new Benin transmitter later this year.

Project Hannah’s outreach and programming is making a significant impact on the lives of men and women in Africa, as this man’s testimony reveals: “My life was a misery. I misused my freedom by walking in the wrong path: drinking, stealing and prostituting myself. What I called freedom was prison and now, in prison, I have found true freedom and salvation. Now I am happy! I ask the PH team to pray for my family and also preach the gospel of salvation to them so that they experience the new life I have found in Christ.”

Prayer Points

  • Praise God for the power of prayer in families of Africa, and also for the servant heart of Helena, coordinator for PH-Africa, as the ministry spreads across the continent.
  • Pray that God will continue to use the WoH programs to guide women and men to the Savior and that listeners will hear the message of salvation and respond.
