The indigenous Nivacle people are spread across the Paraguayan Chaco area as well as parts of Argentina. For the many who are nonliterate, life is difficult and the opportunity to hear the gospel quite limited. One possibility is audio of the New Testament, which is now used on radio stations as well as in churches as a basis for biblical studies. TWR is also reaching out to this people group over the airwaves.
TWR’s women’s ministry, Project Hannah, has been airing its popular Women of Hope (WoH) broadcast in the Nivacle language since August 2004. The 15-minute program is broadcast from The Voice of Paraguayan Chaco, a Christian-cultural station that reaches a parameter of about 186 miles. This coverage area includes the entire Chaco region as well as parts of east Paraguay and the borders of Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil. Additional WoH languages aired in Paraguay includes broadcasts in Spanish, Guarani, Lengua and Low German.
Dozens of Women of Hope programs have been broadcast so far, and Nivacle women and men are tuning in and listening regularly. Many testify that they are learning a lot of new teaching from “Lessons for Your Soul” that reaches their hearts. The practical themes on WoH’s "Lessons for Your Life" provide them with good medical, hygienic and nutritional advice. One woman cried when she heard information about the exact problem she was having.
Project Hannah’s monthly prayer calendars are sent to leaders in nine evangelical churches. They use them in their Bible studies and in personal prayer time. Some women asked for copies of the programs to be used in their women's meetings.
