Farming God’s Way

Though a continent rich in resources, poverty is Africa’s giant. Of Africa’s populace, 80 percent live in rural areas. Many are malnourished. Agriculture is practiced with poor standards, and crop failures are often attributed to drought and a lack of adherence to simple agricultural practices. Amidst this poverty, sub-Saharan Africa has fertile soil and good rainfall. Through Trans World Radio, God has provided an answer to Africa’s problem—a tool to train farmers.

Farming God’s Way is an initiative for preaching the gospel, strengthening and planting churches and extending the Kingdom of God. With its emphasis on sustainable agriculture as a model for life (and heart) transformation of individuals and communities, it is a program for all people, not just farmers.

TWR’s desire is for peasant farmers to use the skills learned via Farming God’s Way to turn their farms into viable ventures where families can be fed and profits made. The program incorporates principles of management and environmental stewardship. Farming God’s Way is a new dimension of TWR-Africa’s commitment to offer listeners practical advice and biblical principles from God’s Word.

Trans World Radio has committed to raise $16,200 for producing and broadcasting Farming God’s Way in the French language of West Africa ($8,100) and the Swahili language of Kenya ($8,100). Prayerfully consider how God might use you to help meet this important need.

“You’re listening to Trans World Radio, your friendly voice in Africa.” These familiar words to many across the African continent are heard over shortwave, medium wave (AM), FM and satellite. From modest beginnings in 1974 in Swaziland, Trans World Radio-Africa has grown into a broadcasting network airing programs in more than 60 languages and dialects to 40 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. TWR-Africa is sending its “friendly voice” through Bible storytelling, Bible studies, women’s and children’s programs, praise music, training in leadership and addressing health issues such as HIV/AIDS.
