Actually, millions of people around the world listen to shortwave for a variety of reasons. For instance, many developing countries have few in-country media outlets, so listeners turn to the outside world for news and entertainment.
In some politically restrictive countries, listeners are drawn to the shortwave bands to hear outside perspectives on events within their own countries. And for Christians living in non-Christian countries, radio often becomes a lifeline of spiritual encouragement for those unable to publicly meet for prayer, study and worship.
Since they’re often untrained, pastors in developing countries rely heavily on TWR’s shortwave programming for the solid teaching they then present their congregations.
